Ben Affleck has said he is "in awe" of his girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and praised her "effect on the world".

The couple, famously referred to as 'Bennifer', rekindled their romance earlier this year having previously had a high-profile relationship and shortlived engagement in the early 2000s.

Oscar-winning actor and director Affleck has now showered praise on Lopez in a profile for US advertising trade publication Adweek, where the music and film star has been named their 2021 Brand Visionary.

He said: "All I can tell you is that I have seen firsthand the difference representation makes because I have seen, over and over and over and over, women of color approach Jennifer and tell her what her example as a strong woman and a woman succeeding and demanding her fair share in the business world means to them.

"I am in awe of what Jennifer's effect on the world is. At most, as an artist, I can make movies that move people. Jennifer has inspired a massive group of people to feel they have a seat at the table in this country.

"That is an effect few people throughout history have had, one I will never know and one I can only stand by and admire with respect."

Lopez and Affleck, who co-starred in the films Jersey Girl and Gigli, became engaged in 2002. However, they called off their 2003 wedding just days before they were set to tie the knot. They officially split in January 2004.

They reportedly reunited earlier this year following Lopez's split from fiancé Alex Rodriguez.

Hustlers star Lopez recently made their relationship Instagram official, sharing a photo of her and Affleck kissing as part of a gallery of images from her 52nd birthday celebrations.

In July, Lopez said she's "super happy" and having "the best time of my life" amid her rekindling her romance with Affleck.
