My Big Fat Greek Wedding actor Michael Constantine dies

My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Michael Constantine, best-known for playing Gus Portokalos in the 2002 romantic comedy, died at the end of August at his home in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The Emmy winner was 94. He appeared in several TV shows, including Room 222, for which he won an Emmy, his Golden Globe nominated role in Sirota's Court, and other TV shows such as Remington Steele, Murder, She Wrote and Law & Order and films such as The Juror.

Constantine was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Teen Choice Award for his role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

He also appeared in the 2016 sequel My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, and reprised the part in short-lived TV series My Big Fat Greek Life.

His co-star Nia Vardalos tweeted, "Michael Constantine, the dad to our cast-family, a gift to the written word, and always a friend. Acting with him came with a rush of love and fun. I will treasure this man who brought Gus to life. He gave us so much laughter and deserves a rest now. We love you Michael."
