Offaly indie pop artist Brí is releasing her new single In My Head on Friday ahead of her debut album Hide on October 22. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about her debut album, Brí says, "The theme of my debut album grew from my song Hide. I've always held other people's opinions above my own and let fear hold me back both in music and in life.

"This album embodies the fallout and the resolutions that stemmed from this into many facets of my life. A loud theme that has been reinforced since the album's inception; the entire process of making Hide has forced me to trust my gut and to honour my vision. 'From now on I won't hide'.''

Tell us three things about yourself?

I've written more than ten albums worth of songs.

Coffee and chocolate are necessary for my survival.

I will release my debut album Hide on October 22nd. Pre order here.

How would you describe your music?

My music is written directly from personal experience. I usually write to heal and to turn a negative experience into something beautiful. My music is usually described as indie pop/electro folk/ethereal/atmospheric/cinematic.

Who are your musical inspirations?

I'm drawn to haunting vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and dreamy electronic sounds. I would say Birdy is my biggest idol and I listen to a lot of Charlotte Lawrence, Laura Marling, Gabrielle Aplin, Alice Kristiansen, and Lana del Rey. Closer to home, lately I'm listening to a lot of Lenii, Lyra, Rosie Carney, and Lisa Hannigan.

What are you most looking forward to post-lockdown?

Like most musicians, I can't wait to be back in a steady rhythm of playing gigs. I'm excited for the lights, the stage, the music capturing our stories in a language we can universally understand, the togetherness and the sense of connection.

What’s your favourite song right now?

When I Look at You by Rosie Carney. I'm a sucker for a sad song. I think true vulnerability makes great art. It's one thing to listen to a song and to enjoy it and another to be able to feel every word, and I can physically feel a heart breaking in this song.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"You've always loved the strange birds, Now I want to fly into your world, I want to be heard, My wounded wing's still beating, You've always loved the stranger inside Me, ugly pretty" - Birdy

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would probably panic, be unable to choose, and would miss the opportunity of getting to keep a song at all. I'd like to say Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi because it's a song I would never tire of.
