Ros na Rún returns for its 26th season on TG4 tonight, with fans promised "high profile additions to the cast" in the months ahead and "many burning issues, sensationally and sensitively explored".
As the season opens, fans will learn of Briain's fate following last summer's cliffhanger.
"Our brilliant, creative scriptwriters, coupled with our very talented actors, have plenty in store for viewers in season 26, which will certainly distract fans from the challenges of life," said Marion Ní Loingsigh, series producer.
"There are plenty of highly topical social issues explored this season. But it's not all serious; there will be plenty of laughs too on the beat with Tony and with the loveable David!"
Ros na Rún airs on TG4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30pm.
