Ahead of their show, we asked Sprints the BIG questions . . .

Tell us three things about yourself?

My name’s Sam, I love to play/listen to music. I support Arsenal (tough times) and when I have a night off I like to stick on the PlayStation.

How would you describe your music?

SPRINTS play Seconds Away on Wednesday, September 1, at 8.00pm

It’s constantly changing, but if I had to summarise I would say energetic, angry but catchy. Soundwise I think we like to call it garage punk/noisey rock, but there’s definitely more evolving for us to go through.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We all listen to similar artists but also kind of have our particular tastes I guess, lately we’ve been influenced by bands such as Yard Act, Dry Cleaning, and that Wet Leg song by Chaise Lounge, which we have on repeat. Overall inspirations can range from bands like LCD Soundsystem to Taylor Swift to Brian Jonestown Massacre, so a mess really.

How are you occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

It’s better now we can see our friends and family, just waiting for gigs to come back now. In the midst of deep lockdown I kept in touch with my friends via the PlayStation, much better than a quiz on zoom. I promised myself to record a lot of music, but found it quite hard to be exciting when the world was so still.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Wet Leg by The Chaise Lounge.

Favorite lyric of all time?

I can’t speak for everyone on this but these lyrics popped into my head when I read this question, "So I can depose this Partial to the bleeding vines, Suppose you can't hold shit How high I've been What a river don't know is To climb out and heed a line To slow among roses or stay behind" - Bon Iver, 00000 Million.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

I suppose you can never get sick of This Must Be The Place by Talking Heads.

Where can people find your music/more information?

All the streaming platforms, whichever floats your boat. We’ve also got music video’s created by our talented friends which are worth checking out.
