Veteran Dublin band Sack have released What A Way To Live, their first new song in years, ahead of a new album and reissues of their back catalogue in February next year.

They will also play The Grand Social, Dublin as part of the Dublin Quays Festival on Friday, August 27 and the same venue on Thursday, December.

Sack, who signed to UK label Dimple Discs earlier this year, emerged as one of the most critically acclaimed Irish bands of the nineties across three albums, You Are What You Eat, Butterfly Effect, and Adventura Majestica, and singles such as Laughter Lines, What Did The Christians Ever Do For Us, and Latitude.

Speaking about Sack's return, frontman Martin McCann said, "I've enjoyed the pace of life over the last year or so as it opened up some new creative avenues for me personally but it’s also exciting to get back in the Sack.

"Receiving our new single, the night before going into the studio added a certain urgency, quite prevalent in what turned out be a quintessential Sack tune. A fine taster of what’s to come."

Guitarist John Brereton added, "We are delighted to be joining the Dimple Discs family, a great label with great acts run by genuine music lovers.

"As a songwriter Cathal Coughlan has been an inspiration musically and lyrically (the greatest Irish lyricist in my book) so it's a pleasure to be on the same label."

Described as 'Frank Sinatra fronting the Pixies', Sack counted Morrissey among their fans, and he invited them to support him on his 1999 Oye Esteban World Tour of mainland Europe, the UK and Ireland, and the US.

Sack also opened for Morrissey again on a European tour in 2003.
