Angela Scanlon has said "there's a sense that anything is up for grabs" when it comes to her upcoming new RTÉ chat-show Ask Me Anything.
Angela Scanlon’s Ask Me Anything was announced as part of a host of new and returning shows during the RTÉ new season launch, and she is excited to get going with it on Saturday nights.
The show with feature surprises and unexpected revelations for the guests, as they all agree to be asked absolutely anything, with no topic off the table.
Scanlon said she loves the idea that "anything is up for grabs" and that there will be a "playfulness" to it.
"What I don’t want to do is make someone uncomfortable, that’s not my style, I don’t want to put anyone on the spot and have them shut down," she said.
Scanlon said the route to getting the show off the ground has been a long one, with the pandemic pushing it out a couple of times to the point that "it has always felt like it may not happen, until now."
"It only feels real now for the first time, since March of the previous year we’ve been having conversations and I literally left RTÉ saying, 'We’ll see in a couple of weeks’ but then what happened, happened," she recalled.
"I had kind of made peace with the fact it might never happen again; I was so excited at the time but then I had to think ‘what will be will be’ and there was bigger things happening in the world."
