The Secret Life of the Zoo, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Once described as 'Big Brother for animals', the fly-on-the-cage-wall documentary returns for a 10th season, with more stories about the animals of Chester Zoo.

The keepers suspect Margery the Malayan tapier may be eating for two, while James Bond the macaw is put into quarantine to ensure he does not have the same disease that killed his partner, Miss Moneypenny.

The tiny but mighty golden mantella frog family (below) is in need of a breeding boost, with hopes resting on minuscule male Eddie, who needs to summon up all his stamina to successfully court his frog princess Fergie.

The Equalizer, 9.00pm, Sky Witness & NOW TV

This reboot starring Queen Latifah in the role made famous by Edward Woodward continues.

McCall's online ad leads her to a mother whose son has been kidnapped by a human trafficker and will be executed unless she steals confidential information from her FBI agent employer.

Also, McCall enlists Aunt Vi to help uncover a secret Delilah is keeping from them both.

Write Around the World With Richard E Grant, 9.00pm, BBC Four

The actor's literary journey this week takes him to southern France, in the footsteps of writers inspired by the country, its culture and history.

Reading key passages from their books as he goes along, including works by Robert Louis Stevenson, Alexandre Dumas, F Scott Fitzgerald, Elizabeth David and Patrick Süskind, Grant learns about the lives of these authors, and experiences many of the places immortalised in the literary classics they created.

Followed at 10pm by Sincerely, F Scott Fitzgerald: A Culture Show Special, where novelist Jay McInerney explores the life and writing of The Great Gatsby author through the letters he sent to editors, publishers, lovers and friends.

The documentary reveals the inner thoughts of a man whose real life was never far from the fiction he wrote.

Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs, 8.30pm, Virgin Media One

This time, Paul (above) helps staff train a lively beagle cross puppy, before spending the day keeping a bichon company that is used to living in a busy home.

Later, he helps a shell-shocked elderly staffy who was left tied to the gates, and subsequently gets caught up in an outbreak of parvo virus which all the Battersea staff battle to contain.

New or Returning Shows

Jonnie’s Blade Camp, 10.00pm, Channel 4

On the eve of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, champion 100m sprinter Jonnie Peacock sets out to help five young amputees realise their sporting potential.

Over the course of a year-long training camp, Jonnie uses state-of-the-art technology, inspirational guest coaches and his own experiences to get them to achieve things they never thought possible.

In the first of two programmes, he asks the hopefuls to set themselves ambitious goals and shows them how to run the 100m on prosthetic blades for the first time.

Daisy Maskell: Insomnia and Me, 10.35pm, BBC One

For as long as she can remember, radio presenter Daisy Maskell has suffered with insomnia, surviving on as little as a couple of hours a sleep a night.

In this documentary, the breakfast radio host sets out to uncover the root cause of her problem and take the first steps toward treatment.

She meets fellow sufferers to investigate why thousands of young people are struggling with sleep disorders, and tries a multitude of remedies and treatments in the hope of finally getting a better night's sleep.

The Devil’s Throat, 11.05pm, Channel 4

A chance to see the first episode of this, apparently excellent, Bulgarian crime thriller, the rest of which is available on Channel 4's excellent streaming service, All4.

In a sleepy tourist town in the Rhodope mountains, a chalet keeper discovers a dead body at the edge of a lake.

Detective Filip Chanov finds the body is that of a retired cop - while the medics discover that the victim's eyes have been replaced with those of a sheep. Starring Vladimir Karamazov.

Britain's Most Evil Killers, 9.00pm, Sky Crime & NOW TV

It's season six of the show that burrow deep into the real-life stories behind Britain’s most shocking and terrifying killers.

This opener examines the abduction and murder of 15-year-old Essex schoolgirl, Danielle Jones, who disappeared in 2001.

New to Stream

Phil Wang: Philly Philly Wang Wang, Netflix

Comedian Phil Wang tackles getting older, dating again, unusual foods and other things that have been on his mind in this special filmed at the London Palladium.

Untold, Netflix

This five-part docuseries brings fresh eyes to epic tales from the wide world of sports.

From tennis to boxing to basketball, these stories aren't the ones you’ve heard before, even if you think you have.

Premiering weekly, each film kicks off at a pivotal moment and then delves deep into what happened beyond the headlines, as told by those who lived it.

First up is Malice at the Palace. Directed by Floyd Russ (Zion) and featuring never-before-seen footage, the famous Pacers-Pistons brawl is unraveled by those who lived it.

The row occurred during an NBA game between the Indiana Pacers and the defending champion Detroit Pistons in November 2004, at The Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
