Pick of the Day

Schmigadoon! Apple TV

Following the success of musical films in recent years - the demand for stage musicals has never diminished - it’s hardly surprising that the genre is now making moves on the world of television and streaming.

Schmigadoon! - obviously a play on the title of Lerner and Lowe's Broadway hit and subsequent MGM film Brigadoon, about a village that comes alive once a century - is a parody of iconic musicals.

It stars Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key as a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover a magical town where everyone is living in a studio musical from the 1940s.

They then discover that they can’t leave until they find true love. It's basically The Good Place with show tunes. Dancing instead of Danson.

The first season of the six-episode series also stars Alan Cumming (above), Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Fred Armisen, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada.

Refusing to believe his account, they string him up by the neck and leave him for dead, but they don't do the job right.

Cooper is dangling there, barely alive, a few minutes later Deputy US Marshal Bliss spots him.
