Meghan Markle will executive produce a new animated series for Netflix about a young girl "on a journey of self-discovery."

Entitled Pearl, it will be a family series that centers on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in a variety of influential women throughout history, according to Deadline.com.

The show will be produced under her and her husband Prince Harry's Archewell Productions banner. Elton John’s husband David Furnish will also executive produce.

"Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges," Markle said in a statement.

"I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history. David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today."

Pearl marks the couple’s latest collaboration with Netflix, with docuseries also on the way. It will focus on the sports competition Harry founded for wounded, injured or sick members of the armed focus. It will follow a group of competitors as they work towards the next Invictus Games in 2022.
