The sequel to The Good Wife has stood up remarkably well on its own - but this fifth season (coming to RTÉ just days after its USA launch) sees more change with a couple of major cast members on the way out and new folks coming on board.

Cush Jumbo and Delroy Lindo will appear in season five as guest stars as they complete the storylines for their characters Luca Quinn and Adrian Boseman. Jumbo is back based in Britain, while Lindo is off on new projects.

Meanwhile, in come Charmaine Bingwa and Mandy Patinkin (Homeland, Dead Like Me), who are joining the show as new regulars.

As for the opening episode’s storyline, Diane Lockhart is forced to question whether it's appropriate for her to help run an African-American law firm with Liz when the firm loses two top lawyers.

Meanwhile, Marissa and the firm become entangled with Hal Wackner.

The Big Interview, 10.00pm, Virgin Media One

Claire Brock talks to Mary Lou McDonald (below), the politician who has served as Leader of the Opposition in Ireland since June 2020 and President of Sinn Féin since February 2018.

With sales of the very biggest breeds in decline, this documentary meets the owners who are overshadowed by their pets in a bid to discover why larger canines are being overlooked.

Contributors include members of the Bones family and their Newfoundlands, the Mathers family and its wolfhounds, and the owners of Great Danes, English Mastiffs and St Bernards.

Ending Tonight

The Supervet: Noel Fitzpatrick, 8.00pm, Channel 4

This week, Noel Fitzpatrick (below) encounters a golden doodle who sustained nerve damage to one of his front legs and a smashed wrist on the other side in a 20-metre fall.

After the initial trauma, Angus was in significant pain and faced possible euthanasia. Distraught owner Zoe brings him to Fitzpatrick's in the hope that Noel can give her other alternatives.

Also receiving attention is irrepressible springer spaniel Rocky, whose failed elbow operation has left him struggling to walk.

His owners seek whatever options there may be for relieving the nine-year-old's pain and returning him to a full life.
