Actress Martina Stanley, who plays Dolores on Fair City, has said her character is afraid of losing her "very dear friend" Cristiano in the aftermath of Will's trial.

There will be further dramatic scenes this week on the RTÉ soap as Will takes the stand, accused of abusing his former partner Cristiano.

Dolores is Will's employer at the medical centre, and he and his daughter Phoebe campaigned for her to take the stand for him - but her evidence took them by surprise in Sunday night's episode.

Dolores had overheard Will giving cruel instructions to his legal team - and she didn't hold back when her name was called.

"I'm sick of him manipulating people, including me," she told the court during her evidence. "He's doing it right now."

"My job was to answer truthfully, nothing more," Dolores told Phoebe after completing her evidence.

Along with the verdict, Fair City fans are waiting to see whether Dolores will be able to repair her relationship with Cristiano, having originally agreed to take the stand for Will.

"She fears that may lose a very dear friend," Stanley told RTÉ Entertainment, "that he will [still] see it as a betrayal.

"Dolores and Cris have been great friends, but Cris was hurt by Dolores' behaviour in the run-up to the trial and friendships have been tested."
