Bono has made his animated movie debut in upcoming comedy-musical Sing 2 as a reclusive rock star lion called Calloway.

The U2 front man plays a former king of the rock and roll jungle who has shunned the limelight for 15 years but who is tempted back on stage by Buster the koala and his all-star cast of performers as they prepare to launch their most dazzling stage extravaganza yet.

The returning cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly and Nick Kroll and the new movie will feature songs by the likes of Shawn Mendes' There's No Holdin' Me Back and a rather freaky version of the already freaky Bury a Friend by Billy Eilish.

Sing 2 will be in cinemas in January 2022.
