Blur and Gorillaz front man Damon Albarn has announced details of his second solo album, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows.

Due for release on November 12th, it is Albarn's first release after being signed to Transgressive Records. He is also scheduled to play the National Concert Hall, Dublin on February 23 and 24 next year.

Originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, Damon developed the eleven tracks on The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows during lockdown to explore themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth.

The album title is taken from a John Clare poem Love and Memory and speaking of the new release, Albarn says "I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist."

The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows is Albarn’s second solo album following 2014’s Everyday Robots.

The full track listing is: The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows, The Cormorant, Royal Morning Blue, Combustion, Daft Wader, Darkness To Light, Esja, The Tower Of Montevideo, Giraffe Trumpet Sea, Polaris, Particles.
