The death has been announced of the actor Ben Roberts, best known for his role as Chief Inspector Derek Conway in ITV series The Bill. He was 70.
A cause of death has not been disclosed.
The Welsh actor's passing was confirmed by his agent, Lizanne Crowther Management, in a tweet that read: "Remembering the wonderful Ben Roberts who sadly passed away on Monday.
"Best known as Chief Inspector Derek Conway in The Bill & he had an extensive career in theatre, TV & film. Our thoughts are with his wife Helen & family at this time."

Bennett 'Ben' Roberts' television career also included the series The Professionals, Angels, Doctor Who and Doctors. On the big screen, he had roles in Jane Eyre and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
He was part of The Bill from 1987 until 2002, starring in over 450 episodes as Sun Hill stalwart Derek Conway.
