Colin Farrell had the tricolour on his running top when he took part in the Brisbane Marathon at the weekend, crossing the finish line in a time of 03:53:14.

It is reported that it was the Dublin actor's first marathon. Official results show he placed 222 out of 683 runners at Brisbane's Botanical Gardens.

Australia's NCA NewsWire reports that Farrell was asked by one of the MCs at the end of the marathon whether he wanted to say a few words but replied: "Nah, I'm knackered."

"His security guard told me he'd only been running for three months in preparation, so it's not a bad effort… and he did finish running and he looked good as he came down the line," said Pat Carroll, another of the marathon MCs.

Farrell posed for photos with fans at the finish line.

He is in Australia making Thirteen Lives, the story of the 2018 Thai cave rescue.
