Peaky Blinders wrapped filming on its sixth and final season on Thursday.

The show's director Anthony Byrne took to Instagram to tell his followers that work on the BBC drama was finished.

He posted a picture of himself holding a clapperboard alongside his assistant director, Jon Midlane, and director of photography, Mathieu Plainfossé.

He captioned it simply "Done & Done & Done."

In the photo, the clapperboard has been decorated with a sketch of the late actress Helen McCrory, who passed away last month aged 52 after a battle with cancer. She played the show's matriarch Polly Gray.

In April, after McCrory's death, Byrne posted a picture of the clapperboard and wrote: "This is our 'A' camera board and Polly Gray is always in front of our cameras.

"It has meant a huge amount to me and the crew on Peaky to have an image of Helen on set with us everyday."

Although this is the final season of the show, the show's creator and screenwriter Steven Knight has promised it will continue in "another form".

He said in a statement: "Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher.

"We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form."
