Today's picks include new tense drama Before We Die, the Europa League Final, George Best, Roberto Baggio, Scam City: Money, Mayhem and Maseratis, and the final episode of Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping . . .

Pick of the Day

Before We Die, 9.00pm, Channel 4

This crime thriller is based on the hit Swedish drama of the same name, this time starring Lesley Sharp (below), Vincent Regan and Patrick Gibson.

When her married lover and fellow police officer Sean Hardacre goes missing in mysterious circumstances, DI Hannah Laing (Sharp) persuades her colleagues to launch an urgent manhunt.

She manages to contact one of Sean's confidential sources, but can 'Izzy’ help her find him before it's too late?

Don’t Miss

Live Europa League, 7.00pm, Virgin Media Two

Remember when the Europa League Final was in Dublin and we couldn't even fill the Aviva because no English team was playing?

Stadion Miejski in Gdansk, Poland, is the venue for this year’s decider as Villarreal face Manchester United (kick-off 8.00pm). It’s the Spanish side’s first final, while United are aiming to repeat their 2017 win against Ajax.

Alarmingly, all four of the previous meetings between these two sides ended scoreless, with the most recent of those coming in 2008. But with extra time and penalties tonight if required, a winner will ultimately emerge.

I'm not a gambler, but if I was I'd back Edinson Cavani (above) as a potential match-winner.

Panorama, 7.30pm, BBC One

Get your scaredy cat hat on for this.

It's a Panorama investigation uncovering new evidence of AI being used by police in China to recognise the emotions of detainees, in order to help determine guilt or innocence.

China has vowed to become the world's AI superpower by 2030, sparking a new arms race with America, and both countries are pouring billions into cutting-edge military tech, including autonomous weapons.

AI could usher in a golden age, but without urgent regulation, experts warn we could lose control of artificial intelligence, a prospect, they say, that should scare us all.

Fresh off his Britney Spears adventure, this new series sees Mobeen Azhar investigates the story of a 20-year-old medical student, who went from handing out cash to strangers to being at the centre of an alleged multi-million-pound scam.

In episode two, at 12.20am, searching for the elusive Gurvin, Azhar hopes to find answers for the people who believe they were scammed - revealing a common thread that blows the story wide open.

George Best: True Genius, 10.30pm, BT Sport 1 HD & streaming on BTSport.com

Another Man U-related doc. And while The United Way (Sky Documentaries) was a slick production, it barely skimmed over its subject. Here’s hoping this is a bit more substantial.

Certainly, the book of the same name by Wayne Barton looks the business as it focuses on the initially jaw-dropping but ultimately chequered career of Belfast boy George Best (above).

Presented and narrated by the late Best’s only son Calum (below), the film also features new contributions from Rodney Marsh, Pat Crerand, Alex Stepney, Paddy Barclay, Antonio Simoes and youth team-mate Willie Anderson.

The Black American Fight for Freedom, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Fifty years on from the promise of equality and the Civil Rights Act, this documentary examines moments where America had the chance to become more equal and why that didn't happen.

Through interviews with those who were at the forefront of the struggle for a fair system in education, housing and criminal justice, the film reveals the key court cases, Supreme Court rulings and laws that failed to bridge the gap.

Ending Tonight

Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping, 10.00pm, Channel 4

After two gruelling years during which Johnny Vegas has seen his plans for his glampsite hit by every problem imaginable, he is finally ready for the grand unveiling.

Unfortunately, it's in front of his harshest critics - his family and friends.

With the final vehicles arriving, there's time for Johnny to deceive his assistant Bev (both below) one more time, before he presents her with the 1950s’ camper van he bought and restored as a gift.

As last-minute preparations on the site continue, Johnny inspects the renovated fire truck which quickly takes a wrong turn as he manages to get stuck on the roof, and things get worse from there.

As he and Bev prepare for the arrival of the much-loved Maltese bus that started the whole adventure, disaster strikes one final time.
