Love Island contestant Demi Jones has announced that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and has urged fans not to ignore warning signs about their health.

On her Instagram Stories, the 22-year-old posted a photo of her holding an information leaflet on thyroid cancer. She captioned her post: "Check your lumps."

Jones wrote: "Hi guys, I got my results today and unfortunately I have thyroid cancer.

"The tumour has been removed but I'm now due to have more surgery to remove the rest of my thyroid."

"I'm staying very positive and I'm a strong girl so I'll be fine, thank you for your love and support always ❤️ I'll bounce back stronger," she added.

Last month, Jones said that she had found a lump on her neck and that it would be removed.

Jones was one of the contestants in the 2020 winter series of Love Island.
