Derry fourpiece Lavengro have released their new single, Anchors. We asked them the BIG questions . . .
Speaking about the song, Lavengro say "It's a song for those who are struggling with addiction and battling their demons. We called the song Anchors as no matter how deep you get, someone will always be there to keep you from drifting away."
Tell us three things about yourselves?
We are from Derry.
We all grew up together.
We make indie pop music.
How would you describe your music?
We write sad songs and bangers which bring up a sweet cocktail of emotions to get you off your feet or crying into your pillow.
Who are your musical inspirations?
To pinpoint a certain style would be way too narrow. We’re four lads who listen to anything from House music to Metal to everything From Elvis to Beethoven to everything in between - which is what gives us the inspiration when writing songs every day. If we were to pick four artists, it would look like a combo of this. Coldplay, Queen, The Weeknd, MGMT.
How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus restrictions?
Writing bangers, loads of zoom calls, loads of weight flux, watching every single Netflix program there is!! So, as you can tell we have just about made it out.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Emmet: Died in Your Arms - Cutting Crew.
