Hip-hop duo NEOMADiC have released their new single, Waves featuring Shiv. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

They are also releasing their EP After Dark, which was recorded in Vancouver in the summer 2020.

Dyramid, who is Irish and South Sudanese, and Yake Loga, who is Irish and Zimbabwean, released their debut tape, The NEOMADiC Tape in 2017, and they've been championed by Highsnobiety, Red Bull as well as making their TV debut on RTÉ's Other Voices, while shiv was named by RTE 2FM as one of their Rising Artists for 2021.

They’ve also played Electric Picnic and KnockanStockan, as well as support slots with hip/hop acts Souls of Mischief and Pharoah Monch.

Yake Loga grew up in three different countries.

How would you describe your music?

Lyrically, our music tends to gravitate around the theme of escapism. Trying to do what makes you happy and trying to do something most people think is out of reach. Sonically we’re always trying to explore and expand so we wouldn’t put ourselves into a category when it comes to that.

Who are your musical inspirations?

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

Working on music, listening to music, cycles/skates, tv shows and Xbox.

What’s your favourite song right now?

A+ by Kenny Mason feat Denzel Curry.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"Too black for the white kids, and too white for the blacks" - Earl Sweatshirt.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

Dyramid - Mojo so Dope - Kid Cudi.
