Fair City stars Maclean Burke and Amy Kirwan have said that fans are set for "the best worst wedding there ever was" when their characters Damien and Mairéad walk down the aisle tonight on RTÉ One.
After weeks of cheating intrigue, Damien and Mairéad's big day has been billed by the two actors as "a cliffhanger" - and then some.

"They've threaded it together so well," said Burke of the plot. "It's the who, the where, the what and the why that really hurts these characters.
"Yes, there's been unfaithfulness there, but it's the people that it's happened with that nearly surpasses the insult of being cheated on."
"Jane (Rachel Pilkington) has a really good part in the story," teased co-star Kirwan. "There's involvement with Jane, let's just say, and the story unfolds - and unfolds a little bit more!"
As for the aftermath, Kirwan is giving nothing away.
"Regardless of their mistakes, I think they're two characters who genuinely love each other," she told RTÉ Entertainment. "I really hope that this 'blip' can be put to bed - excuse the pun! - once and for all and they can move on. I really feel that they deserve happiness - this is both their second marriage.
"I hope that they find happiness together after all of this. I mean, what could possibly go wrong now?"
