Charlie Murphy has teased her character's arrival in the upcoming TV series based on the Halo video game franchise, saying her role is "a lot of fun to play".
The 32-year-old Irish actor, who rose to fame in Love/Hate, is set to take on the part of Makee, a brand new character that has been set up for the show.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the Enniscorthy native said: "It's obviously set on the game, but this a character that's been introduced for the TV series. There's not a lot that anyone will know about her. But that's quite exciting, I think, to wait for the reveal.
"She's a real character and a lot of fun to play."
Halo launched in 2001 on the original XBOX and has enjoyed several sequels over the years. The story spans thousands of years across several planets, with Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) and companion Cortana (voiced by Jen Taylor) leading events.
Murphy also discussed the "jaw-dropping" sets and admits the crew are doing a brilliant job at pulling off filming during a pandemic.
"We have a couple of months left. The production on this has been incredible. I don't know how they're managing to pull off filming during a pandemic to the scale that they're doing. It's just kind of jaw-dropping. But we're managing to do it.
"Yeah, we've a bit to go. We had a hiatus, obviously, during the pandemic, and coming back to it, it feels like we're doing a load of TV series, and we're just on series two. That's what it feels like, because it's just been so long in the making.
"But it's good. We're seeing things coming together now, and episodes being roughly assembled. Yeah, it's in good shape."
Halo is tipped to have nine episodes and is slated for release early next year.
