Adele has beaten Madonna, Rihanna, and Beyoncé to become the best-selling female album artist of the century so far in the UK.

The news comes as plans were unveiled for 2021's National Album Day, which returns for its fourth edition on Saturday October 16th, with the theme is Celebrating Women in Music.

According to data from the Official Charts Company in Britain, all three of Adele’s albums are in the Top 10 biggest-selling records by female acts.

The albums - 19, 21 and 25 - have had eight times Platinum sales in the UK with 21 being her most successful.

The Londoner was followed on the list by Amy Winehouse’s 2006’s mega-seller Back to Black, while Leona Lewis’s debut Spirit came in at number four.
