Laura Whitmore has confirmed she is expecting a baby girl with her husband Iain Stirling.

The Irish TV and radio broadcaster shared the news in an excerpt from her new self-help book No One Can Change Your Life Except for You.

Writing in the final chapter Whitmore said: "As I finish this book, it doesn't end at chapter nine, there's a new chapter coming into my life - in the form of a baby girl currently growing inside me and that scares the s*** out of me.

"I once swallowed a bug and freaked out there was a live bug inside me. A live human is a whole new level of freaking out but I am excited because there's a lot of good in the world, there's a lot of potential.

She added: "I want to bring up my child knowing that she has her own story to write.

"She will be supported and loved. But she is the heroine of her own life, no-one else."

Whitmore and Stirling tied the knot last November at City Hall in Dublin and in December, the Bray native shared the happy news that they were expecting their first child.

In a post on Instagram Whitmore said: "So I've always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life. A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we've chosen not to share publicly.

"However I want to now share good news as it's our news to share – and I'm gonna be honest it's starting to look like my lock down [sic] beer belly is out of control. Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021."
