Electro-pop artist Fi has released her new song, Over You. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

Tell us three things about yourself?

I'm from Mullingar, a pretty musical town (Bressie, Niall Horan, Joe Dolan), I play guitar, but I write a lot of music now to beats, and I love Nutella.

How would you describe your music?

I’d say it’s pop and commercial but with a dark and atmospheric edge. I love a big, catchy chorus and space in verses. Electro-pop is how I’d describe it to give an edge, but I think most pop music these days have electronic elements.

Who are your musical inspirations?

I’ve loved Halsey since day one, she’s an amazing lyricist and she makes massive bops! I also love Chelsea Cutler, Lauv and Lennon Stella. I’ve seen them all live and was blown away.

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

In the first lockdown I decided to start meditation and journaling and I’m delighted to have sustained these daily habits. I ended up doing a diploma in digital marketing thinking we’d be back to normality after until last May. Then when the restrictions were eased, I went through a break-up and I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. I joined a hiking club and we climbed Croagh Patrick. I ended up getting a new job, I wrote and recorded Over You during this time also. Then in September I started a life and business coaching course, it’s been such a journey of internal development. I’m delighted that I decided to take the plunge and by May I’ll be qualified. There’s been a lot of ups and downs, but I feel I’m coming out of it a better person.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Mood by 24kGoldn ft Iann Dior. It just really puts me ironically in a good mood. Can’t help but bop to it!

Favourite lyric of all time?

'You’re ripped at every edge but you’re a masterpiece, we’re all just flawed humans at the end of the day"- Colors by Halsey.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

I have a habit of listening to a song I like repeatedly until I can’t listen to it. It would have to be something that’s stood the test of time. I’m going to go with Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Such a feel-good song and I love how it’s still reinvented today.

Where can people find your music/more information?
