South Park will return for a one-off special next month with a one-hour special about the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine, say the show's creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
The Vaccination Special sees the people of South Park attempting to secure their COVID-19 vaccines, despite the best efforts of a militant anti-vaxxer group, according to reports.
The animated show’s last and its 23rd season ended in December 2019 but returned for an hour-long Pandemic Special last September.
Season 24 of the long-running series has been delayed due to the pandemic.
The Vaccination Special from will air on March 10 on Comedy Central and there has been speculation that more South Park movies could be planned.
A full-length feature film of the show, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, was released in cinemas in 1999.
Last summer, ViacomCBS' Grant Gish said he was keen to make more movies and specials with Stone and Parker, saying: "As long as you’re doing something new, and that could be anything from a new style to a new tone to a new voice coming from a specific writer, I think it can work."
South Park is currently renewed up to its 26th season, which will make it the longest-running primetime scripted series in US cable.
The show has been the highest-rated cable comedy in primetime for six consecutive years.
