Electronic artist Amerik has released his new single, Olive. We asked him the BIG questions . . .
Amerik is a Belfast composer and producer and his new song is the first to be lifted from his forthcoming debut EP, Bouquet, a collaborative project featuring local songwriters Gareth Dunlop, Travi The Native, Little Rivers and Pete Wallace, set for release in April.
"The EP name came from a photograph I took from my wedding day in 2019, and how each flower within a bouquet has their own unique style, but all complement each other," Amerik says.
"In the same way, each track is unique to the artist through their lyrics, but centred around my co-writing, composition and arrangement."
Tell us three things about yourself?
I'm primarily a session bass player for other artists, including Ryan Mack, Conor Scott and Gareth Dunlop.
One of my first gigs was opening for Westlife. Never got that autograph.
Pop Punk is still my favourite genre of music.

How would you describe your music?
Dreamy synth pop.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Sigur Rós, Jon Hopkins, Tycho, S Carey and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver).
How are you occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
Binging Seinfield, running, Call of Duty, reading and getting this EP finished.
What’s your favourite song right now?
The Night Game - I Feel Like Dancing. It’s like walking into a John Hughes movie.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Listener - Wooden Heart: 'We're all born to broken people on their most honest day of living’.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Don Henley - New York Minute. It has one of the most melodic bass lines moving and intertwining with Don’s vocal. And a sweet gated reverb drum roll into the choruses. 80’s bliss.
Where can people find your music/more information?
Spotify, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Soundcloud.
