Monaghan singer-songwriter Jim McHugh is back with his new single Dave and a first taste of what's to come from his upcoming third album, Pretending To Wake Up, due for release May 28th. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Tell us three things about yourself?
I'm an indie folk rocker living in the country music heartland of Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan.
I'm an active hurler for my club and played in Croke Park in 2018 in the All Ireland Club Junior final.
My life is blessed with my wife and two boys, they all put up with my antics.
How would you describe your music?
Indie fused with folk and rock
Who are your musical inspirations?
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Neil Young, Radiohead, Christy Moore.
How are you occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
During the slight reprieve in restrictions, we managed to record a new album in six days. We put the groundwork in with preparing the songs remotely and getting our act together so when it came to the studio, we were super-efficient.

It’s a strange one and I can't explain it but this last week I can't stop listening to Gotye's 2011 hit Somebody I Used to Know.
Favourite lyric of all time?
'There are times that I want you, I want you so much I could bust'. Love Goes On by The Go-Betweens.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Led Zeppelin, Immigrant Song. So many songs rock out in an F sharp chord but this one is the pick of them for me.
