Tonight's top telly tips include a documentary with a difference about a cult rock singer, Tommy Tiernan, The Masked Singer, Line of Duty - and some cracking movies . . .

Pick of the Day

King Rocker, 9.00pm, Sky Arts & NOW TV

It may be far from the ideal thing to be watching on a Saturday night during a pandemic, but this quirky documentary about a relatively unknown musician is well worth the effort.

Not everyone with a guitar wants to be a star . . .

Comedian and writer Stewart Lee (Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle) , director Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast of London) and James Nicholls (Fire Records, Fire Films) investigate the mysterious existence of Robert Lloyd.

Over the decades he’s been involved in bands such as The Prefects, The Nightingales, Robert Lloyd and the New Four Seasons, and is pretty much British music’s ultimate post-punk survivor.

How does a working class autodidact, with no visible means of support, maintain his role as the leader of a cult underground band into its fifth decade?

Joel Dommett hosts the semi-final of this outrageously daft show, in which the regular panellists are joined by special guest judge Matt Lucas, and two of the five remaining singers will be unmasked.

Afterwards there's the relatively mundane The Voice UK (9.00pm) as Emma Willis hosts the penultimate round of this year's blind auditions, with Anne-Marie joining the coaching panel alongside old hands Olly Murs, Tom Jones and Will.i.am.

Another chance to see the superb second season (still the show's best, imo), when Line of Duty really took off and Keeley Hawes put in a career-defining shift as DI Lindsay Denton.

It all kicks off as Denton comes under suspicion when she survives the ambush of a police convoy in which three of her colleagues are killed and a witness seriously injured.

New or Returning Shows

Celebrity Mastermind, 7.00pm, BBC One

John Humphrys asks the questions as four more famous faces brave the black chair in this returning episode of the classic quiz, donating to their chosen charities.

Any excuse to play this . . .

Here’s a documentary series exploring the GAA and its significance in Ulster, worth investigating if you missed it first time around.

In the first episode, former Armagh gaelic footballer Jarlath Burns (below) explores how the Gaelic games are about more than just sport, and how the GAA first took root in Ulster and survived the upheavals of a partitioned Ireland.
