Tonight's top telly tips include Gogglebox Ireland Looks Back, some guitar work on The Repair Shop, the return of Stephen Nolan and the finale of Bulletproof: South Africa . . .

Pick of the Day

Gogglebox Ireland Looks Back, 9.0pm, Virgin Media One

Ireland’s favourite couch potato TV critics are back for a new season of telly-watching.

Before the next run of the show gets fully underway, the telly-lovers tell viewers what they think about some of the shows we used to watch.

The households take a trip through the magic door with Bosco (below), help Mike Murphy pick Ireland’s Eurovision entry and also sample some 1970s' science with Pat Kenny.

They'll also take a trip down memory lane and remember the late Ann Lovett, featured on Today Tonight, RTÉ's current affairs show from the 1980s, whose 37th anniversary occurred last Sunday.

Don't Miss

The Repair Shop, 8.00pm, BBC One

Jay Blades and the team bring four treasured family heirlooms, and the memories they hold, back to life.

There is a big project for guitar expert Julyan Wallis: a 1960s’ guitar that belonged to Robyn Griffith’s grandfather, who loved jazz but never had the opportunity to learn to play this cherished instrument.

Robyn has inherited not just the guitar but a talent for playing, and he would love to enjoy it. The guitar has been broken and silent for decades, and Julyan is his last hope.

Meanwhile, wood-restoration expert Will Kirk has his work cut out when Christine Clay from Doncaster delivers a handmade card table that is very dear to her heart.

The one-of-a-kind octagon table was made for her by her father, who recently passed away.

Finné, 9.30pm, TG4

In this latest instalment of the documentary series exploring the personal testimony of those who have lived through trying times, Sinéad O'Leary recounts the terrifying events of April 2002.

This was when she and friend Nichola Sweeney were viciously attacked by Peter Whelan, with Nichola losing her life in the attack.

Neven's Irish Seafood Trails, 8.30pm, RTÉ One

This week's mix of seafaring and seafood-seeking sees Neven Maguire travel to county Clare, where he visits The Armada Hotel at Spanish Point, where chef Peter Jackson prepares bread made with stout and seaweed.

New or Returning Shows

World’s Greatest Treasure Mysteries, 10.00pm, Sky History & NOW TV

The Lagina Brothers, Rick and Marty, take a break from their exertions at Oak Island to host a new series that should be well worth a look.

Here, it’s all about pirate treasures.

Revealing new details and clues to the treasure quests that have gripped out imaginations, the first episode sees Rick and Marty in on their hunt for the notorious lost treasure of the infamous pirate Blackbeard.

Nolan Live, 10.45pm, BBC One

Often as controversial as his subject matter, Stephen Nolan returns to host BBC NI’s often hard-hitting current affairs programme.

This talk show has been on the go since 2005, so Nolan’s obviously keeping someone happy.

Given the way the last week has gone - between the EU trying to put a border on the island of Ireland, and then physical Brexit checks at Belfast and Larne ports were suspended after loyalist threats against staff - this could be a lively opening episode.
