He's already proved his comedy chops in the Taken franchise and his talent for comedy in The LEGO Movie, and now Liam Neeson could be about to combine both in a remake of the beloved eighties cop satire Naked Gun.
Director David Zucker’s The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! was released in 1988 and starred Leslie Nielsen (so at least Neeson has the right initials).
In the movies, Nielsen plays Frank Drebin, a kindly but bumbling detective, who always manages to come good despite his genial incompetence in three Naked Gun films.
Now Family Guy and Ted creator Seth MacFarlane, says he’s considering a remake.
69-year-old Neeson, who says he is planning to retire from action movies, revealed the news, telling People magazine that he's been asked to star in it.
"I’ve been approached by Seth MacFarlane and Paramount Studios to maybe resurrect the Naked Gun films," he said.
"It'll either finish my career or bring it in another direction. I honestly don't know."
MacFarlane and Neeson previously worked together in the film A Million Ways to Die in the West.
