Daniel O'Donnell has issued a warning to his social media followers about an "imposter" who asked a fan to 'pose in nothing but a tea cosy’.
The Donegal singer was alerted to a fake Daniel O’Donnell social media account run by someone who was asking fans to send explicit photos.
The real Daniel, who has more than 120,000 friends on Facebook, and his team have since posted a warning on their official account to make everyone aware that he was not behind the account and that he never sends personal messages on his Facebook page.
The statement says, "It has been brought to our attention that another page is circulating impersonating Daniel.
"The page is under the name `Danielfrancis O Donnell’. The page is adding people as a friend and asking them to email them to a particular email address.
"Please don’t add this page or contact this person. This is Daniel’s official Facebook page that you are on and although their (sic) are other pages for Daniel fans they are all like pages where they will not ask you to be friends.
"Also, Daniel never sends personal messages on his Facebook page. Please just be aware."
The fake account has since been removed.
However, commenting under the official statement from O’Donnell’s team, one fan said: "I have been friends with this other Daniel for quite a while now. I took it as genuine and I thought we had developed quite a bond.
"Then I was asked to pose in nothing but a tea cosy."
