Bread star Eileen Pollock dies aged 73

Northern Irish actress Eileen Pollock, best known for her role as Lilo Lil in the 1980s sitcom Bread, has died at the age of 73. 

Ms Pollock died peacefully in her home in London on Sunday night, her family have said. 

Her agents said she was "truly a powerhouse of an actor, with huge generosity and spirit". 

On the BBC sitcom Bread, Ms Pollock played Freddie Boswell's mistress.

On the big screen, she starred in films such as Far and Away, which also starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Angela’s Ashes and Four Days in July. 

She also had a successful career on the stage.
