Ireland-filmed series coming to Netflix in January

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for its Co Wicklow-filmed fantasy series Fate: The Winx Saga ahead of the show's premiere in January.

Fate: The Winx Saga is described by the streaming giant as "the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld". 

"They must learn to master their powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence"

It is the new series from The Vampire Diaries screenwriter Brian Young and is a reimagining of the Italian cartoon series Winx Club by Iginio Straffi.

The cast of Fate: The Winx Saga includes Normal People star Eliot Salt alongside Abigail Cowen (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Hannah van der Westhuysen (Grantchester), Precious Mustapha (Endeavour), Elisha Applebaum (No Reasons) and Sadie Soverall (Rose Plays Julie). Eva Birthistle (Brooklyn) and Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey) also star.
