Comedian Jason Byrne will discuss grieving the death of his father when he joins Deirdre O'Kane for a wide-ranging interview on Deirdre O'Kane Talks Funny on RTÉ One tonight.

Byrne's father Paddy passed away in February, with Byrne telling O'Kane that he has never grieved before.

"I didn't know or have anybody close [pass away], so I didn't know what that was about," he explains.

"I'm not actually crying right now. I'm actually... I just kind of get a bit of a belt... when you're at the funeral, at the pub you might be laughing away and then someone might say something, anything and then you cry.

"It's just hard now because he was such a big figure."

Deirdre O'Kane Talks Funny airs on RTÉ One at 10:00pm.
