Hugh Grant has opened up about his friendship with Bridget Jones co-star Renée Zellweger, describing her as "one of the few actresses I haven't fallen out with".

During a recent interview on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, The Undoing star spoke about his long-running friendship with Zellweger, who he starred alongside in both Bridget Jones' Diary and its sequel, The Edge of Reason.

"I love Renée," he reveealed. "She's one of the few actresses I haven't fallen out with, and, we, we got on very well together and, we still exchange long emails.

"Hers in particular, at least 70 pages each, interesting stuff, but quite hard to decipher," he joked. "She's a properly good egg and a genius. Did you see her Judy Garland? About as good as acting gets."

Grant also elaborated about his role as Daniel Cleaver in Bridget Jones' Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, explaining how he connected to the character.

"I quite enjoyed playing Daniel, I related to him," he explained. "He's a disappointed man who was in publishing and always wanted to write his own book but hadn't.

"With all that going on, I think I created a fascinating back story to him - none of which come through in the final performance."
