David Furnish said the 'silver lining' of lockdown has been spending so much time together as a family, while Elton John has suspended touring.
The 58-year old film-maker and husband of the iconic musician was talking to singer Lulu in the course of an InstagramLive conversation.
"Because Elton is 73 we've been doing a more restricted version of lockdown so one thing the boys (nine-year old Zachary and seven-year old Elijah) haven't been able to do is get out and mix with their friends which I feel really conscious of - so how many activities can we do with them at home?"
Furnish mentioned the fact that he grew up in Canada, where he had been a boy scout. "I love camping, and I am a camper," he said.
Elton and David took the the two boys to the woods in their garden where they were shown how to build a fire pit, pitch a tent and fetch wood for the fire.
"I didn't do glamping with the boys - that's the posh camping where everything laid out beautifully for you," David explained.

"Taught them how to start a fire, how to cook dinner in the fire, how to roast marshmallows and they hadn't done any of that stuff before. Just walking to the end of your own garden, we were going away into a campsite."
Between them, David and Elton own six properties in California, Nice, Venice, Atlanta, London and Windsor. The Daily Mail speculates that Furnish was referring to the garden at the Windsor homestead, which reportedly boasts an expansive lake populated by ducks.
On ITV's Loose Women, Furnish spoke about Christmas family plans which involve a 'one gift rule' adhered to by Elton and himself, 'because we don't need anything, we are very blessed in life.'
"The thing I am most looking forward to is Christmas with our sons, because there is nothing like Christmas with children. All the magic for us with Christmas has just gone off the charts since we had our boys."

"We are going to be like everyone else, we are going to have a quiet lockdown family Christmas at home but I am really looking forward to it."
David regards the time as a break from work, "watching lots of old movies, listening to great Christmas records and having too much to eat like everyone else."
The boys, he mentioned, are very proud of dad and they love his songs. "But when he comes home he leaves Elton John behind. ..he doesn't bring it into the household and he doesn't talk about it in any kind of glorified way. They seem to be quite grounded about it and I hope that continues to last."
