A male contestant on US game show Wipeout has died after completing the show's obstacle course.
The unnamed man passed away in hospital after appearing on the show, which airs on US channel TBS, reports E! News.
The entertainment website has said that the contestant needed medical attention after completing one of the competition's notoriously difficult obstacle courses.
He was initially treated by on-site medical personnel, and then taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The cause of death is not yet known.
All contestants on the show must undergo medical exams before tackling the obstacle courses.
In a statement issued on Friday, TBS said, "We are devastated to have learned of his passing and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family."
Endemol Shine North America, the production company which distributes Wipeout, said, "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts are with them at this time."
According to a description of the show, "Wipeout promises to push contestants' "athleticism and willpower to even greater extremes" as they take on a three-stage obstacle course "designed to further challenge, and wear out, the stamina of the competitors."
