Pick of the Day
Bloody Sunday, 1920, 9.35pm, RTÉ One
This is a documentary examining the events of the day of violence during the Irish War of Independence when more than 30 people were killed or fatally wounded.
The day began with the IRA assassinating a team of undercover British intelligence agents working and living in Dublin.
That afternoon, in retaliation, members of the Auxiliary Division and RIC opened fire on the crowd at a match in Croke Park, killing or fatally wounding fourteen civilians and wounding at least sixty others.
That evening, two Irish republicans (Dick McKee and Peadar Clancy), along with a third man, a civilian named Conor Clune, were beaten and shot dead in Dublin Castle by their captors, who claimed they were killed during an escape attempt.
