Despite being panned by many French critics and viewers, Emily In Paris has been renewed for a second season at Netflix.

The series - starring Lily Collins as an ambitious American marketing executive who lands her dream job in the French capital - has been a hit for the streaming service, regardless of criticism.

Fans see the show, created by Darren Star, as a bit of a guilty pleasure. Entertainment Weekly, for example, gave the series a "B" and wrote: "If you need a five-hour brain vacation, Paris is a worthwhile destination."

A video (see tweet below) shows members of the cast on Zoom holding pairs of items to mark the confirmation that a second season of the show was going ahead.

Ashley Park, who plays Mindy, can be seen with two glasses of wine, while Lucas Bravo who plays Gabriel, cracks two eggs into a frying pan.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Sylvie, holds up two lingerie gift boxes and Camille Razat, who plays Camille, brandishes two bottles of champagne.

The video then shows Lily Collins, who plays the title role of Emily, dressed in a white beret as she she receives text messages from two of her admirers.

It says: "Deux is always better than un. Emily In Paris will return for season two!"

Collins wrote on Twitter: "Deux is better than un. I'm freaking out and beyond thrilled (much to Sylvie's dismay) to announce #EmilyinParis will be returning to @netflix for Season 2!

"Thank you guys for the love and support and I hope you're as excited as we are!!"
