Tell us three things about yourself?
Pisces Sun, Leo Moon, Sagittarius Rising.
How would you describe your music?
Between my various projects, the music I make deviates between psychedelic-folk, improvised folk-horror drone, and I'm quite influenced by krautrock and post-punk.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Elliott Smith, VU and Nico, Suicide, Gang of Four, Connan Mockasin, and Ariel Pink. More recently I'm getting heavily into Jenny Hval and Eartheater. They're both really skilled producers with really strong identities in their art. White Fence, Cate le Bon and Jessica Pratt are always on my rotation too.
How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
About eight hours of films a day, running around the Glen, sorting out a small bedroom recording set-up and finishing my second Mantua record. I played a few live streams too, which helped revive a sense of performance again.
What's your favourite song right now?
Lost by Boy Harsher. Obsessed with them at the moment. Potent, repetitive coldwave.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"The crowds just gathered, their faces turned away, And they queue all day, like dragons of disgust"
The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated to the Neo-Stalinist Regime) by Scott Walker. Scott Walker was an absolute genius. I could easily pick a beautiful Lou Reed couplet but that verse sitting within those ecstatic string arrangements of his. It hits me in a strange way every time I hear it.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Tempted to say The Side of Man and Womankind by Tony Conrad with Faust 'cos it's 28 minutes long but I think maybe Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana. But only if I can choose when I listen to it and it's on repeat for all eternity ‘cos then I'd lose my mind.
Where can people find your music/more information?
On my bandcamp and Instagram.
