There's classic MGM musical The Band Wagon, Chevy Chase is the subject of Comedy Legends, the new SpongeBob Squarepants movie lands on Netflix, and it’s bye-bye to The Apprentice Best Bits . . .

Pick of the Day

The Band Wagon, 8.00pm, BBC Four

A rare TV outing for one of the greatest movie musicals ever made. Yep, it's up there with Singing in the Rain and West Side Story.

Song and dance man Fred Astaire, director Vincente Minnelli and MGM producer Arthur Freed combine superbly in this tale of Tony Hunter (a middle-aged Astaire, basically playing himself), a veteran musical star who hopes a Broadway show will reignite his career.

Worth watching just for the Dancing in the Dark sequence, where Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse smoulder their way out of Central Park, and the sheer showbiz exuberance of the gang ripping through That’s Entertainment.

Look out too, for the Girl Hunt Ballet dance sequence (see below) Michael Jackson borrowed from for the video of Smooth Criminal.

If The Band Wagon doesn’t put a smile on your face, you’d better check your pulse and be prepared for some bad news.

Don't Miss

Comedy Legends, 9.00pm, Sky Arts & NOW TV

From early roles in National Lampoon and Saturday Night Live, Chevy Chase (below) rose to become one of the biggest stars in comedy during the 1980s.

Known for his roles in the National Lampoon Vacation films, Fletch, Caddyshack and Three Amigos, Chevy's career seemed to stall somewhat in the 1990s.

Then a memorable role in the cult sitcom Community as the unstable mature student Pierce lifted him back into the limelight in recent years, ensuring him further work well into his seventies.

Maxxx, 10.00pm, Channel 4

Last week’s opening episode of this comedy about a former boy band member whose career is on the slide was squirmy fun.

With Maxxx's (O-T Fagbenle) antics going viral on social media, everyone is talking about him again, resulting in Maxxx and co getting an exclusive invite to a wild celebrity party.

The place is bursting with music industry types, so it's time for Team Maxxx to turn on the charm and land him a record deal - not an easy task in a labyrinth of sex and drugs.

The Good Fight, 10.15pm, RTÉ One

The pretty daft so far season four of this much-loved Good Wife spin-off continues as Adrian and Liz find out that there is a play based on them, and try to stop it.

Meanwhile, Diane tries to get to the heart of Memo 618, the mysterious reason why the judiciary seem to be terrified of offending certain corrupt individuals.

We wish her well . . .

Ending Today

The Apprentice Best Bits, 9.00pm, BBC One

The last of the 'best of' shows takes a look back on what it takes to make a task a soaring success - and how to avoid an epic failure.

I'd imagine there will be a lot more of the latter than the former.

There are jaw-dropping lows, from nauseating food failures to the cringiest pitches that will have you squirming in your seat. But we also recall the best of the best, from TV-selling superstars to those who cleaned up on dirty jobs.

Show hosts Karren Brady, Alan Sugar and Claude Littner (above) hark back to the times when many hopes were dashed and some records were smashed as the candidates fought to enter the Apprentice hall of fame and avoid the taxi of shame.
