Kate Winslet has revealed she can hold her breath for over 7 minutes!

Producer Jon Landau has shared an incredible picture of Kate Winslet underwater while filming Avatar 2.

Landau shared a behind-the-scenes look at the eagerly-anticipated sequel featuring Kate Winslet submerged in water with a billowing cape and a fierce expression as she strutted across the 'ocean'.

Alongside the image, Landau wrote: "Wanted to share this photo of Kate Winslet after reading her interview in The Hollywood Reporter: "I had to learn how to free-dive to play that role in Avatar, and that was just incredible.

"My longest breath hold was seven minutes and 14 seconds, like crazy, crazy stuff." She stops herself, afraid that she's given away too much on the top-secret project. "Oh no, actually, I can't. Yeah, I play a water person. I am a water person," is all she will offer, instead shifting to praise of Cameron."

Winslet plays Ronal, a 'water person' in the follow-up to 2009's Avatar which made €2.3 billion at the box office. She filmed her scenes in New Zealand in 2018.

Avatar 2 is the first time Winslet has worked with director James Cameron and Landau since Titanic, which was released in 1997.

Speaking about working with Cameron again, Winslet told The Hollywood Reporter that, "it was wonderful to work with Jim again".

She added: "Time has changed him. Jim has become a father a few more times over. He is a calmer person. Chilled. You can just feel him enjoying it more this time."

Avatar 2 is due to be released in December 2021, followed by Avatar 3 in December 2023, Avatar 4 in December 2025, and Avatar 5 in December 2027.
