Donegal singer Eve Belle has released her new single Bluff, ahead of the release of her debut album, Between Moments, on October 23. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
Bluff is a writing collaboration between Eve and Christy Leech of Irish electro-pop duo Le Boom and was produced in Dublin with Fiachra Kinder on desk duties.
Speaking about the song, Eve says, "This song is about the frustration of wanting someone and trying not to lose face by putting all of your cards on the table (but if you're honest with yourself, you already have!).

"It’s about that extremely flexible logic you develop when you really, really like someone, that 'if they don’t text back within half an hour, I’m done with them. Ok, I’ll send another text to make sure they got the last text and then if they don’t reply to that one, it’s DEFINITELY over’ moment."
"You spend your time bluffing that you don’t care - to the person you like and to yourself - but let’s be honest here, you’re not fooling anyone. This is a song about the emotional agony all that entails."
Tell us three things about yourself?
I am a recovering emo, a language nerd and my relationship with Diet Coke would be considered by many to be deeply unhealthy.
Describe your music?
I often describe my music as sad bops. These are songs about the difficult moments in my life. I feel that the best songs come from the most intense emotions, and for me those emotions are frustration, sadness, and heartbreak so my songs are primarily based on these emotions.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes is definitely my main songwriting influence in terms of lyrics and subject matter. I also love Julien Baker, Maggie Rogers and Tom Waits. A bit of a wildcard in terms of my sound, but I'm incredibly inspired at the moment by Charli XCX. I think her approach to song structure and production is so fascinating, and she definitely is inspiring me to throw the rulebook out the window with my songwriting at the moment and to try some new things.
How have you been occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
I've been writing a LOT of music. I just bought myself a little production set-up, so I'm trying to learn how to produce my own music at the moment. I also re-watched all six seasons of Glee and cried more frequently than I am comfortable with.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Probably because I'm hearing it everywhere, Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers has been stuck in my head for weeks. Also, a fab new find of mine is Snow Cone by Rei Ami.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Probably from Hit The Switch by Bright Eyes, 'I'm staring out into that vacuum again from the back porch of my mind'.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Probably Martha by Tom Waits. It feels like a warm hug.
Where can people find your music/information?
