Whoopi Goldberg has said she is "working diligently" on a third Sister Act outing and revealed it turns out "people may want to see it".

The 64-year-old actress, who played the much-loved part of Deloris Van Cartier in the 1992 movie and its sequel Sister Act: Back in the Habit, said the production team are working extremely hard "to figure out how to get the gang together and come back."

Speaking to host James Corden on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Goldberg said: "For a long time, they kept saying no one wanted to see it. And then quite recently, it turns out, that that may not be true. People may want to see it.

"So we're working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back."

Goldberg teased how the new movie will be "a lot of fun" and "feels good".

"It's fun and it feels good. And you know, nobody's mad. It's just listen – bad singing, great singing, OK singing and then nuns. What's better than that?"

In August, Goldberg said she would love to make Sister Act 3 and said while she ''keeps asking'' for a third movie she is told people ''don't want it''.
