Ryan Tubridy has said he is hoping that Sam Bennett can join him on this Friday's Late Late Show to reflect on his green jersey victory in the Tour de France.

The host shared the news on his RTÉ Radio 1 show on Monday, when a listener asked him to mention Bennett's victory - and the reaction of the cyclist's grandfather Pat Cashin to his win.
"Tipp FM sent it out and I got a look at it last night," said Tubridy of the video. "And, sure enough, there he is shouting at the TV. I think he's close to 90-years-old, Sam's granddad, but there's great pride."
"I'm delighted for his family, and for Sam," Tubridy continued. "Obviously, an emotional family, and that is really healthy. [A] Lovely thing to see.

"With any luck we'll be having the company of Sam on the Late Late Show this week. That would be lovely, because if ever a man deserved a lap of honour, it's Sam Bennett.
"It's a great, shining, happy, blood, sweat and tears story for this week, and for this year, that the country needs. It's a really beautiful thing. So, well done to Sam. I'm delighted for him."
