Behind the music - Magazines

Dublin fourpiece Magazines have released their new single Happy Alone. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Tell us three things about yourself?

1. We love Killorglin.

2. Cath can't dance. (Like, it’s bad).

3. Our new single Happy Alone sounds good and you should listen.

How would you describe your music?

Indie-pop for sad boys and girls and everybody else.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We draw a lot of influence from bands like Wolf Alice, Bombay Bicycle Club, and The Cure.

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

We did a lot of writing and recording. Like, a lot. Maybe too much. Oh, and Dan grew a mullet.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Cath: You’re Not Good Enough - Blood Orange

Shayne: This Is The Life - Two Door Cinema Club

Tom: Your Light - The Big Moon

Dan: The Leanover - Life Without Buildings

Favourite lyric of all time?

"Cool never looked good on me. Guess you’d find out anyway." It’s from Miya Folick’s tune, I Got Drunk. That entire song rips me in two.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac is not the worst thing to have to listen to forever.

Where can people find your music/more information?
