Dublin-born Lucy McWilliams has just released her new single, Runaway. We ask her the BIG questions...

Tell us three things about yourself?
I study music over in Berlin, so I live there most of the time.

My bass player just started teaching me the bass, so we've decided that once I'm good enough we'll play with two basses... Might take a while!?

Even though I'm a lyricist, I'm heavily dyslexic and still have to get my friends to proofread everything - including this interview!

How would you describe your music?
Honest. I mean, I don't really think about what I'm writing, just how it feels and how I'm feeling at the time.

Who are your musical inspirations?
I have so many different inspirations, but Amy Winehouse's music is the first I can remember feeling really connected to. Lots of jazz too. All the classics - Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone. And a lot of Radiohead too. I was obsessed with OutKast when I was younger, like really obsessed. I listened to only them for about a year.

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
It was actually really nice to be back home with my family. I wrote lots of music and realised how much I enjoy spending time alone. Once restrictions were loosened, I dragged my band over to live with me, so unfortunately for them they've been stuck with me for the last few weeks. It's been so great to be able to play with them again.

What's your favourite song right now?
Coming Closer by Duckwrth. We've had his new album on repeat the last while.

Favourite lyric of all time?
Ehhh, that's a tough question. The first thing that comes to mind is one of Amy Winehouse's, from Wake Up Alone - 'Soaked in soul, he swims in my eyes by the bed'.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Weird Fishes - Radiohead.

Where can people find your music/more information?
On my socials! I use Instagram all the time, slowly getting better at Twitter and Facebook - it's a little daunting at times, but I'm getting there!
