Katy Perry has said her marriage to ex-husband Russell Brand was ''like a tornado'' and admits she gravitated toward him because she thought the ''pressure'' in their relationship would create something ''beautiful''.
The 35-year-old singer, who recently welcomed a baby girl into the world with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, said her 14-month marriage to the 45-year-old actor and comedian "was the first breaking of my idealistic mind"
Speaking on 60 Minutes Australia, Perry explained: "I was having great success at 23, 24 and 25, and then I met someone that was interesting and stimulating.
"It was just like a tornado. It was everything happening once."
She continued: ''I know that inherently [about myself]. Like, 'OK, it's gonna take a lot of work but oh, we're gonna get somewhere great,' or, 'It's gonna be a beautiful diamond. All this pressure is gonna turn into [that].'''
Brand and Perry wed in 2010 and split just 14 months later when Brand ended their marriage over text message, a painful moment captured on camera in the 2012 documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me.
Brand is now married to Laura Gallacher and the couple have daughters Mabel, three, and Peggy, two.
